Once again we can call another extremely useful static Matrix function, this time called CreateBillboard. When we call this function, passing it the position of the billboard object and details of the camera position and orientation, it will return a matrix that translates the object to the specified position and rotates the object directly toward the camera. CreateBillboard expects the following parameters to be passed: objectPosition: the position of the billboard object. cameraPosition: the position of the camera, which can most easily be obtained by querying the Camera.Transformation.Translation property. cameraUpVector: the camera s up vector. Obtained from the Camera.Transformation.Up property. cameraForwardVector: a vector indicating the direction in which the camera is looking. Obtained from the Camera.Transformation.Forward property.

Two resource groups are populated from this file: Bootstrap and General. General always exists, so when you add resources to this group, no new group is created. The Bootstrap group in this example has meaning only to the Ogre demo ExampleApplication framework; it is a completely arbitrary name (like any non-General resource group name), and not to be considered anything special like General. FileSystem and Zip prescribe the archive type: FileSystem indicates a file-system based resource location, and Zip indicates that the resource location is a standard ZIP file. With the help of this matrix we ensure that the particles are always aligned to face directly toward the camera. Notice that it rotates on the z axis after applying the billboard transformation: because the rotation is relative to the object s position, it rotates on the axis that is aligned toward the camera, regardless of how the camera is positioned within the world. The game framework provides some minor changes to more easily support the rendering of particles.
